Super over simplified. Before this season, I was a 1.3 KD player in regular crucible, and I’ve only made it to the lighthouse once around the time when the solo queue initially came out, so im just slightly above average. I love non-SBMM PvP because I enjoy the adrenaline rush of occasionally going on a big streak. In exchange for that occasional streak, I accept I am going to get my ass cheeks fully spread and rammed about 1 in every 4 games. Before SBMM, in 4 games I would expect one great game, 1 bad game, and 2 moderate games.I considered that a good trade. Post SBMM, I am ranked top .5% in ELO for control because I always play the objective and get a lot of wins, which means I now consistently get placed in lobbies where I am the least skilled player. I’m basically punished for enjoying playing the game the way you’re supposed to be playing it. There is no perfect way to balance matchmaking, someone’s experience must suffer for someone else’s to improve. The primary beneficiaries of SBMM are people at the very bottom of PvP ELO, everyone else’s experience either remains similar or gets worse.
