One suggestion is hobby groups. Either in offline or online. That way you have something in common with the groups and the friendship formed would be more organic than forced. Plus you won't have to focus on making friends with hobby groups and can just enjoy doing the hobby with them and gradually you'll form friendships as you hang out with some people regularly. So times you also become friends of their friends when you hang out at times.

For online hobby groups I'd suggest discord. For offline you'll have to search online. In Chennai I've been in jogging groups and they're very friendly even if they're usually in their 40s. I found them through Facebook search and you can try searching too. Good luck!
