I'm quite clearly massively in the minority in terms of how much longer it takes me to find an online match with items than without, but I much, much prefer playing with items.

People complain about the randomness of them but like...yeah...it's a game, who cares. If I get fucked over by some unfortunately placed assist trophies/pokeballs then so be it, the universe will balance out and those will favour me in another match.

Plus, items are the best antidote to spammy/campy players. Those shitty/annoying tactics don't work with items turned on.

What I personally don't understand is why people are so concerned with improving their skills/GSP score by strictly only using tournament rules.

How many of you playing Smash reading this will ever compete in any kind of meaningful/important tournament? I'm guessing close to zero. So I ask...what are you practicing for?
