Tuesday, September 19, 2017 MCAT Score Release Thread for August 19, 2017 MCAT Examination

Really excited to finally move on from this test physically and mentally. I hope everyone here has reason for celebration tomorrow.

I studied my ass off this summer. With the exception of a few events that took me out of town, I studied seven days a week for at least 8 hours a day and often up to 12 towards the end at the expense of some serious burn out. I'm a little disappointed in myself because I took the old mcat and learned many invaluable lessons on how to study for it. However, I didn't keep those lessons in mind quite as well as I should have. I'm a good standardized exam tester but my execution is very volatile depending on the day and I have trouble with timing on the mcat. Taking as many FLs as possible from the get go would have been very advantageous for me but I only did NS 1-4 and all the aamcs. Still a good amount but there's an element of test execution you can only improve on by taking FLs as opposed to stand alone practice passages. If anyone out there struggles with timing on exams, start taking FLs very early in your content review(don't take aamcs until you're done with content). It will reduce your chances of deviating from practice scores on the real thing and help you to make the most of your content work. So much of this test boils down to keeping a cool head, constantly eliminating answer choices as best you can, and not wasting any easy questions in each section. Also, never disregard the importance of content review. Aamc has a list of everything they test and it's imperative that you are comfortable with everything in that list. Never expect to get lucky. The question packs and section banks from aamc are invaluable. I would highly recommend doing them as many times as possible. The more comfortable you are with the difficulty of the section banks especially, the less intimidating the exam will be. Aamc doesn't have many tricks, they mostly test Pretty basic science through a seemingly complex interface.

NS exams: 507s and 508s. CP was a lot more involved than aamc and their cars is pretty shitty, but they have good exams overall. AAMCs I didn't drop below 510 and my highest crossed over 520. Really don't know what to expect tomorrow. I messed up on timing in CARS and didn't like the section either. Had to rush a lot at the end. Felt great about bio until the end when a few gnarly passages came up. Lost track of time and had to blind guess about 3 I think. CP had a mix of very manageable passages and few tough ones at the end. Made a few dumb mistakes I think. PS was tough but I feel pretty good about it. I don't expect to drop under 507/508 but I doubt I went over 513.
