UK scraps additional A400M buy as ‘unaffordable'

I've been thinking about the implications for the UK's permanent seat at the United Nations Security Council. India, Germany and Japan all have larger economies than the UK. India is also a nuclear power and India and Japan have superior global firepower indexes than the UK. It could become a problem in a few decades if more countries enter the nuclear club and have larger economies and more powerful militaries than the UK. "The victors of World War Two" will start sounding as anachronistic as "The victors of the Napoleonic Wars", "The victors of the Boxer War", or "The victors of the Seven Years' War".
