I'd argue it's not a competitive game. Not in the capital C version of that word. It's clearly a competition with a winner but it is, to me, just as clearly not written to be balanced and smooth at a Competitive level. It's a fluffy game with some nods towards the competetive scene.

Don't get me wrong, I think a tight well balanced competitive rule set is better for everyone i causing caudal fluffy players, bit that's not what 40k is or ever had been. If you're going to okay, you need to be ready to agree with your opponent on the strange rules interactions and possible mistakes beforehand every game. It's the cost of doing business. It blows and should clearly push GW to be better but thats how it is.
