Update: desmoplastic melanoma (more in comments)

Some time ago I asked what it was that the doctors extracted from under my mother’s eyebrow. I wanted to give a quick update which may help others with similar symptoms.

It ended up being a desmoplastic melanoma, which as far as we understood is quite rare. It started with a lesion which resembled a pimple, and itched continuously. Didn’t get better in 6 months with any cream the dermatologist recommended.

Why they didn’t do a check once the damn thing didn’t disappear is beyond me. Honestly, I’m all against curing yourself with Google but when this whole ordeal started it took me one hour of googling to come to the suspicion it could be exactly this. I still have the damn article saved. But whenever my mother raised the question, she was dismissed by GPs and dermatologists altogether. So if there’s any silver lining in this, it’s that if you think something is wrong with your body, don’t let people belittle you because “you found it on Google”. Go on asking for opinions until you find a professional who’ll listen and look into it.
