Weapon Stereotypes (mostly Rise)

SnS main, you blew it.

I’ve mained SnS in every MH since Freedom Unite, and it’s stronger in Iceborne and Rise than it ever was before. Striker SnS was legit with oils in GU, but still pales in comparison to modern SnS in terms of both DPS and utility.

It is huge fucking lie that the SnS is the “beginner weapon”, that hasn’t been true since Gen 2.

We choose our weapon for the awesome combination of speed, agility, and versatility we get. We have the fastest attack recovery in the game, we can both cut tails and KO monsters, we can instantly dodge OR block with our shield (we even Guard point now), we can do aerial attacks from anywhere without a ledge or wirebug. We’re great with DPS builds, status builds, or support healer builds. We are the all-in-one solution.

Using items while unsheathed doesn’t obligate shit. What it does is turn my item pouch into part of my moveset - traps, hunting helpers, flash bombs, sonic bombs, bait meats, barrel bombs, and YES lifepowders (you’re welcome).

SnS is fucking amazing in Rise, and if Capcom ever wakes the fuck up and realizes that elemental damage ought to be viable, it will be even better.
