The Weekly Training Thread

Just finished week 5/18 of a 5 day/week Hanson’s plan I purchased through Luke Humphrey’s site. Comes with access to Final Surge app, which I find pretty helpful as it shows your runs and target paces for each day and imports your data from Garmin/Strava etc.

Sun - Easy 4 Mon - 1.5mi warmup 4x1 mi MP + 400m jog 1.5mi cooldown Tues - Off Weds - Easy 6 Thurs - Off Fri - Easy 6 Saturday - Long 10

Total mileage for the week came out to 34.3, legs feel great. This was the first week that I actually followed the prescribed pacing. I’d been going too fast and I know that I have to trust the plan and do the easy runs easy. Monday’s run had intimidated me a bit because I was unsure if I’d picked an appropriate goal at the start of all this, but I did it just fine. That was nice for my confidence. Yesterday’s run was pretty boring and I started later in the morning than I typically do, but I’m happy to say that I had a full week of getting it done. I really enjoyed the HMM book and I think that I’ll do the proper Hanson’s beginner plan for my fall marathon. This 5 day plan works well with my schedule right now, so I’m glad to have chosen it for the race in March.
