Think we'll ever get a Perfect Cell who can do a REAL Solar Kamehameha?

Toriyama has no problems retconning stuff, even if it doesn't make any sense, as seen by Trunks new design

That’s how trunks always was, he had blue hair like his mother. It was a mistake on the animators part not toryiamas

Potaras (which make absolutely no sense anymore since Vegetto is so far the only character that is affected by this new rule, whereas Old Kai is still fused for whatever reason and don't get me started on the Manga and Merged Zamasu in that one ...)

...They do explain it. You need to be at a certain level to be able to have the fusion last, that’s why old kai stayed as he was a supreme kai along with shin. Merged zamasu also had two different takes, being that they were the same soul merging together and becoming one, and the other being zamasus regeneration kept them together.

Goku vs. Beerus was long after Z. I'm fairly sure Frieza - in Z anyways - was a lousy fighter. Incredibly powerful, but still goddamn awful.
How would he manage to negate collateral damage like that? How is that even supposed to work, can characters somehow absorb all the energy that is coming from the punch, thereby setting themselves at a disadvantage for the sake of protecting the environment?

Beerus and goku destroying the universe doesn’t matter honestly as the problem had only presented itself whenever a god of destruction was fighting. And it doesn’t matter if he was a lousy fighter, it depended on his control on his power. he had the power since he was born, it’d be weirder if he didn’t know how to handle it.

Why would someone who clearly doesn't care about collateral damage, like Kid Buu, do this?

He can’t just bomb namek, do you forget why he was there in the first place? He needed the dragon balls and probably understands that as the current most powerful blowing up the planet would probably destroy them, and the nameks who know everything about them.

And he had two reasons not to when fighting them. Firstly he wanted to punish them for ruining his chance at becoming immortal, and how can he make them hurt if they’re already dead. And then there’s the reason he didn’t just completely destroy namek right away, to not get blown to bits by his own attack. As you said he doesn’t really care about collateral damage, so he wasn’t holding back his power with this hit, so him taking on his full power blast which is probably stronger than he can punch would have him reasonably scared, and wanted enough time to kill goku and go. But someone alike kid buu doesn’t have this restraint, which is why he destroyed earth.

I mean, sure, let's say that 1st form Frieza is able to casually boop a planet, apparently with a force strong enough to wipe out a star. How was he not able to boop Namek in a form that is supposedly so much stronger? He had many opportunities to do so. Should we also just chalk that up to plot convenience?

No, chalk it up to common sense.

The point is, everything is inconsistent and relies on claims for the most part with nothing to back it up. Frieza destroying Vegeta is that, Frieza destroying Vegeta.

Im confused here, are you saying to disregard what characters say?

but do you seriously think that anyone secretly wanted to show the world "Oh yes, this guy can boop a star if he wanted to?" with that scene?

The destroying planet vegetal scene had nothing to with showcasing power, or rather not entirely. It was to show that he was merciless warlord who views everything else around him insignificant and worthless to him and yes, to demonstrate that anything he gets tired of he can just make disappear.

Why not literally have him boop a star then? Frieza clearly doesn't give a sh*t, so why not?

Why would they do this? Him just destroying a random star wouldn’t make any sense story wise or character wise. He’s lazy, why would he go out of his way to destroy something that doesn’t do anything? it doesn’t even work to “show off his power” as we had seen with the nameks he’d just start killing people
