Ryan's relationship with Butcher

Yeah that definitely needed more time if it's going to be the crux of the finale.

But honestly we'll never really know what happened. I have to say it's kinda weird. I can't say I've ever seen a characterization fumble like this.

I've definitely seen people fumble and turn, say, "cool guy with heart of gold" into just a total insufferable asshole. But I've never seen what's supposed to be a racist, sexist piece of shit be accidentally turned into a fairly reasonable and likable guy 90% of the time.

I've seen people argue about whether or not he was actually racist. Which, clearly he is/is supposed to be, but the fact there's even a discussion about it means they fumbled it IMO.
