What do you think of Mike Pence's stance on evolution?

Let's play devil's advocate for a moment. So what if people don't learn about macroevolution (creationists believe in microevolution)? Would we have created the atomic bomb faster if everyone in the country at that time understood evolution? Would we be on Mars right now if a magician flicked his wand at the dawn of the century, and made everyone believe in macroevolution?

Often in these discussions about science or math, people bring up the technological and medical improvements that science has brought into our lives while conveniently ignoring the thousands of stacks of worthless research papers with 2-3 citations churned out by academicians every year.

Applied science is the best tool we have to advance humanity. Science as a whole? No, not really.

A predictable counterargument would be that subjects of study that were considered impractical and masturbatory had turned out to have great practial applications, but one has to wonder about where we would be today had we focused our resources on attaining solutions to specific problems.

In any case, I don't see the teaching of creationism impacting the sort of science that would affect my life in any way, shape, or form.
