It was creepy but it stuck with me: I was 19 and minding my business eating pizza with my roommate downstairs from our dorm in a neighborhood overflowing with fancy beautiful horny people in the late 90's. It was a Friday night and the neighborhood attracted a lot of non-residents who went there to party and whatever they do.

There was a really really drunk white boy who would have been attractive if he wasn't so scary: He was with his quiet friend and looked at 19 year old me (no conceit, I was very attractive when I was younger), and dude got real loud and yelled out in the pizzeria, "Look at that girl." His friend tried to shish him and check him but he wasn't having it. I ignored him as much as possible while eating my dinner until he came up to me and asked me how old J was, because I was so beautiful and blah blah blah and from what I understood, I owed him some play. Because.

I told him, "I'm 19, how old are you?" all nervously especially because my sweet oblivipus roommate had no idea what was going on.

Dude replies, "Oh, well I'm way too old for you, I'm 35", and no matter how hia friend tried to shush him and pull him away, he persisted in creepy and my sweet oblivious companion just ate her pizza and paid no mind. Then she fucking left me while I was still eating.

But at that moment my friend who lived on my floor appeared with his girlfriend, both of them street smart city folks who immediately saw my discomfort and noted the source. They were so cool and on a fee occasions over the next several years helped me out of similar situations:

They both gave the guy a stare of death and my friend's girl told the drunk dude's friend, "Yo, check your boy." She wasn't playing.

Thank god for people who realize when someone is in a situation they can't handle. I don't scare easily but that night, I was scared, and it had little to do with my age or being new in a new setting. It had everything to do with a drunken and determined asshole who decided to obsess over a random girl at a pizzeria.
