Are these folks "teaching us lazy jerks all a big lesson by withholding that delicious update", or are they themselves "the lazy jerks who are waiting for someone else to do something they should be doing"?

Your replies imply that it's one or the other, or maybe both? I feel like that's a pretty crappy way to talk about people you supposedly work so closely with... For what it's worth, some of us don't contribute but still appreciate the hard work that gets done. If you feel so strongly about people enjoying the fruits of your labor, I suggest you take your ball and go home.
