When ER made the oh-so-brilliant decision to attempt to turn Morris into Romano...

I think the actor who played Romano (Paul McCrane) wanted to leave. He was directing some episodes. I don’t know if he continued this though.

I was disappointed when he left as I felt the character was really reaching a new level of snark and snappy politically incorrect statements now that he was down in the ER on a regular basis. The loss of his career as a surgeon did nothing to humble him in any way.

TBF Morris did put together an elaborate and presumably well thought out presentation on scheduling during his chief resident interview. Agreed he basically had no competition but I don’t think he came off as a total idiot. It could have been much worse given his last behaviour.
