Would you rather learn a language for a culture you're really interested in, one that's close to your native language, or one that is commonly used?

First option because I'd love to live in different countries and that's one of the main reasons I study other languages. But I'd also learn languages because I just like the language itself and the sound. I love romance languages and some Asian languages. And German too, but I don't think I will spend more time learning other European languages that aren't French and Italian.

Asian languages because of the culture and the big differences that could probably change my idea of literature. Specifically interested in Japanese, Thai and Chinese. Korean is beautiful too but I don't think I would want to live there.

When I write about learning a language I mean at a high level (C1 / + or equivalent). Since I'm pretty young and open to moving I believe it's possible.
