The sub has a pretty 50/50 split on how hard it is to be a SAHP.
Usually they lean more towards defending SAHPs, but there's always controversy.
I think the majority of AITA users take a black and white version of things, regardless of their overall opinion.
It's either being a SAHP is the hardest job in the world, or it's the easiest job in the world.
That sub just doesn't like any form of nuance.
Is being a SAHP easy? No.
Is it the hardest job in the world? No.
I work 12 hour shifts. I load an unload a total of 42k pounds of rubber from 400 degree press machines that could take my arms off if I slipped while closing them.
And while I don't have kids, I've babysat my nieces and nephews for full days, and sometimes even weeks at a time since they were infants. While single. And still keeping my house clean.
Is it easy? Fuck no.
Would I prefer doing it 24/7 over my job? Fuck yes.
And I wouldn't even say I "like" it....which is why I don't have kids. I'd just say it's preferable. I know plenty of parents and grandparents though who fucking love it. They wouldn't want to do anything else.
