Arranged marriage is not an exclusively Indian thing. You guys didn't even invent it. It's something that exists among classes that have some kind of privilege to protect. Ban on mixing is something that keeps that privilege among a selected class.

Every culture in the world has used that practice but in most places it's a thing of the past due to the push for individual freedom and egalitarian society. Most practiced among the most privileged, that is royals, aristocracy, land owners, generally wealth owners. You don't need to be a genius to see a connection here.

You are not the first culture to have shitty practices. The difference is that most of us have moved on.
