Always wanted to ask someone this so thanks for doing this: Besides guards, prisons employ nurses, teachers, chaplains etc, and pay is good. Are those people at risk of getting manipulated into doing crimes? Like, if I’m a prison nurse and a prison gang tells me that I have to bring something in. Their outside soldiers know my name, can find my address etc. You could ruin your life by taking that job. Also writing to a prisoner, like if I just want to be a nice person and write to a prisoner, doesn’t that open you up to extortion too? I ask this because once someone was telling me to work border patrol, that it pays 80k to start. I was like, hell yeah. Someone who overheard the conversation said not to even think about it. He said the cartel comes to your house one night and tells you which cars you have to wave through etc. At the risk of you and your family’s life, you are now controlled by criminals. I always wondered about judges and wardens, what a risky life they must lead. How do they sleep soundly knowing they have pissed off the WORST people?
