Speaking of Al Haitham again he reminds me of why I am growing fond of my job as academicians

Back when I first working as researcher in university it felt boring despite it pays well because most of my work responsibility are writing research paper and teaches students while my friends who worked at industry/corporate area seems to have more social life and outside experience

But years later as I grow older I start to appreciate that this is a good thing because this kind of job gives me more comfort space to my schedule and has more job security especially on COVID era where companies are laying off dozen of workers yet only me that keeps the same job like before COVID, now I already become a full time lecturer I could see why

I also feels like having a job that doesn't need to be very social (except teaching few hours a week) is a godsend because I could have more me time

The younger me might be disagree but I probably around the same age or few years younger than Haitham now so I understand why he has such mindset
