I'm a huge Yuzu fan, but the hate Chen gets is absolutely ludicrous. As people have pointed out, Twitter is always eager for a "villain of the week" in order to make hyperbolic judgements about people who either make an honest mistake or are just someone they don't want to like. Speaking as a gay man, Chen's comment in the interview was certainly tactless and tone deaf, but to label him a "homophobe" for it is frankly ridiculous. It was clearly not meant with any form of malice and he has since apologized for it. No one has to forgive him if they don't want to, but saying he's a terrible person who should be banned from performing is just childish. Chen may not be my favorite skater (technically superb, but sliiiiightly lacks some of the artistry and showmanship of skaters like Yuzu), but I'll definitely defend him on this front. People need to leave him alone.
