Advice for where I’m at with meditation

As with everything in life, you need some motivation. That can be from results or by setting goals and achieving them.

Many get lost with meditation as they do it, and expect something without really knowing what it is. There is also a difference for that are kind of messed up, to those that are chilled and happy with their lot in life. There was a poster a while back who reached a high level quickly and got nothing out of it because he was naturally at a calm mental state many of us aim for already.

Also some have problems with the mental flexibility to move meditation to normal thinking patterns. Much of this is due to the age of the average Redditor as your brain takes up until you are 25 to fully develop, as well as those who follow the more spiritual path.

So for you it is whether the meditation sessions give your mind the relaxation it needs, and the application to your daily life is needed to significantly improve your thinking patterns. If your inundation of thoughts aren't a problem, then there may be no need.

If you need goals, you can increase the length of individual sessions and progress to less required focus, as well as work on thought and behaviour patterns you want to change.

Personally I'm the functioning insane, and need meditation to keep my shit together and have upped my mental control with enough meditation work to keep me going for the rest of my life.
