2K has players ranging from 40-99. Take someone like Lillard for example. He’s like a 94 overall in 2k.
If you put Lillard against a legacy version of like 2013 Bron, 1991 MJ, prime Shaq, etc hes only going to be 5 overall points worse than them. Lillard is a great player but he’s not even close to those guys in their primes.
BBGM rating system allows for more variance. A guy like 2020 Lillard is probably around the 68-75 overall range. I’ve had Luka hit 92 in my sims. I see LeBron/CP3/KD hit 85 consistently. I see Wilt and Oscar in the 85-90 range.
The system is designed to account for a player as shitty as 1 overall or as good as 100 overall. As rare as these occurrences might be, they do happen when you sim hundreds or thousands of leagues.
