I am a medical student seriously interested in anesthesiology and want to know what the salary and job outlook looks like post residency. If people are willing, what was your salary after residency, what are your hours, how hard was it to find a job, where do you practice?

depends on a ton of things. jobs are plentiful right now, you can literally work anywhere you want.

the more you work, the more you get paid. you can work essentially part time for 200-250k, or work like a dog in the middle of nowhere for >700k. there’s so much variability in the geographic region (generally the more remote, the more you can make), the structure of the job (salary w2 vs “eat what you kill” private practice), the amount of call you take, outpatient vs hospital, full time vs per diem hourly rate, payor mix, etc.

it’s an awesome field, with a lot of flexibility to tailor your job to what you want. for a super vague general starting point, 350k for 50-55hr/week in a large popular city you would probably want to live in.
