Am I overreacting?

It kind of feels sad that he is taking WoW so seriously and especially the guild, which are just people over the internet instead of you, being a real person and possibly even physically closer than his guild friends (you live together, close by etc.).

WoW is kind of designed in that way, that you'll never run out of things to do if you really want to optimize your character. I don't play it currently but have played for 15 years and did quit it just before Shadowlands when it seems to be more of the same and I saw completely through it's systems. Don't want to go too in-depth but I only saw it more as a time-sink than an actual game with interesting things to do. I've only heard rumours that in Shadowlands you really need to work yourself out for upgrades, for example rewards from dungeons are very far in-between.

You said you were not a gamer, but I feel I still should suggest Final Fantasy XIV for you and him. He might at first discard it as a "stupid anime game", but oh he'd be wrong, it's only the visual appearance. What I want to say the game is much less time consuming if you want to optimize your character, much like WoW used to be, you do raid content for upgrades and there is no need to do all of the side stuff he is currently spending so much time in WoW.

Overall XIV's community is something special, totally different from the WoW community and truly welcoming. It's something everyone should experience. The game is also very suitable for couples playing together with it's systems like Housing (which WoW doesn't have) and even an option for in-game marriage.

I don't have any opinion if you're being played etc. as I've not been in a relationship for quite a while. Just my thoughts after seeing your post.
