Agreed. Eugenia is an adult and is closer to 30 than she is 18. Eugenia’s mom and dad can be considered fucked up for not getting her help when she was under 18, but honestly Eugenia had over half the internet fooled into thinking she was “naturally thin” and it’s not too much of a stretch to assume she had her family fooled back then as well. When you don’t have experience with ED, drug addiction, mental illness, etc. you can be a bit oblivious to the warning signs. I don’t doubt that’s what happened with Eugenia’s parents when she was under age. Now Eugenia is an adult, her family can have her 5150’d but that’s only a 48-72 hour psychiatric hold. At the end of that hold they give you the opportunity to check yourself into treatment which Eugenia mostly definitely did and will do again if she’s made because checking yourself in means you can check yourself out anytime you want. NO ONE not Eugenia’s family or any doctor can force her to go to treatment for the duration she needs. Unless she broke the law it is impossible for ANYONE to make her get treatment for a duration of time that she desperately needs.
