Any tips for interview ?

Get there early, I would recommend driving by the day before to make sure you know where you are going. Aim to be there 15 minutes early, should be perfect. Once you get the job never be late, it is almost never excusable and a top reason why new hires get fired.

Bring whatever documentation that is requested. I would recommend bringing a manila folder with a couple copies of your resume, I did and it was greatly appreciated by the interviewing officers.

Dress as nice as you can. If you can’t afford a suit at least wear a dress shirt, tie, some nice pants and dress shoes. If money is tight many of these items can be found cheap at the Salvation Army or retailers like Burlington coat factory.

Don’t stress out during the interview, there really aren’t any trick questions and you’re not going to get grilled it all. Your interviewers are going to ask you questions about how you have responded to adversity or unexpected situations in life and the workplace. Stay positive.

Remember that this is not a law enforcement position so it’s important you conduct yourself with grace and in a respectful manner. It’s difficult sometimes especially when somebody threatens you over something silly but stay strong.

That said always do the job the way you were taught, do not make exceptions or assume one person poses less risk than another.

Document the hell out of everything you do that is above and beyond, request collateral duties, and either move up or move out ASAP. Lots of federal jobs are hiring and will be for the for seeable future, use this as a springboard to better paying federal careers with proper retirements.
