Anybody living in a shipping container home on the Big Island?

I'm aware of the limitations, but with proper care, they can last a really long time. Most people don't care for them properly, from what I've seen, and yes, they rust to hell, especially when they're not properly maintained. This isn't intended to be a permanent or full-time living solution, just a reasonably-comfortable starting-point.

As far as them getting hot, yes, I know this first hand, but that can be mitigated with proper air handling/airflow. Insulation is a must, either way. This particular container has 4 kW of solar panels mounted on the top of it, so running fans and dehumidification will help manage this. When it isn't raining and there's a nice breeze, I'll take outdoors under a lanai any day of the week.

And yes, crackheads are always a concern, but in this case, I have several neighbors who live between 100-200 feet away, and angle-grinding is hella loud, so thankfully, it would attract immediate, hostile attention. The site is also remotely monitored a few different ways, so if anyone were to try something, I'd know within seconds.
