Anyone finish the series yet? I’m shocked at myself.

Fun watch, some nice intense moments and those of suspense.

Character development's a challenge in the format like this, and could definitely feel the showrunners trying to stretch out the season like a long chapter rather than individual episodes.

Really enjoyed the various serial killers' interactions, Principal Wade, and the OPR storyline to further spice up the conflict, but in general, was anticipating more from each character arc:

  • We discover Wendy's homosexuality and nothing comes of it after that one episode. Holden is shown across several episodes to be fawning over her (seemingly romantically) like a puppy, but then that arc is also abandoned.
  • Bill's internal conflict would have been an ideal arc to run with, but after the one episode focused on his son/wife, it was basically over. He was too disturbed and wanted to stay home, abandoning Brudos, but then just resumed interviews/investigations with Speck, Atlanta killer, etc.
  • Agent Smith seemed to be introduced purely as a by-the-book roadblock for Holden. No character arc whatsoever
  • Debbie started out terrifically, got fleshed out, then seemingly became disturbed/upset on a dime and ended the relationship...
  • Holden's mental breakdown at the end just felt too sudden and much for one episode. Debbie break-up, OPR investigation, Kemper "conversation" altogether just felt too compressed

Guess just expected more, in a post-The Wire/Breaking Bad world. That said, highly looking forward to season 2.
