Aotearoa Maori Chorale -- E Pari Ra [folk] (2017)

Beautiful, isn't it? It is actually a funeral song, dating back to the First World War. It is sung as a whole community mourning the loss of a boy they once knew, who perished in a faraway land. The translated lyrics are as follows:

The tides surge onto the seashore and my heart throbs. Alas! Weeping without restraint I am left behind. Everyone are utterly heart-broken. Chorus: So come back, return my beloved, my love I am weeping here for you now far away farewell! and remember, Beloved! be true to me Farewell! I will be true to you Farewell! Farewell young man, Farewell. Take my love with you Alas! There is weeping inside of me, left beind here and inside of the people Weeping in our hearts.

The Maori were among the most valiant warriors from the entirety of the British Empire.
