Appreciation Post for Sirius, Lupin, Snape, and JKR

We all know about it, and we all see it. It's obvious. Nobody ever wants to admit it, but it's there.

People on this subreddit hate Severus Snape.

The first question to ask: why? Why do you all hate him? The obvious answer: you didn't watch him in his prime.

Likely explanation: I know that most of you are around 14 or 15 years old. That means you only got into Harry Potter series in the last couple years. So you never watched the Half-Blood Prince in his prime.

And because you didn't watch him in his prime, you try to compensate for that by diving into his death by Nagini and analyzing his fight with Mcgonagall. But here's the thing: magic isn't played at duelling clubs. The moment somebody brings up "elder wand ownership" or "fight with Grindelwald" I know they know nothing about wizardry.

Snape's magic cannot be encapsulated by one spell. He's the second greatest DaDA teacher ever, and one of the 5 best wizards to ever live.

So when I hear somebody say that Albus Dumbledore is better than Severus Snape, I laugh, because I know that anybody who watched Snape in his prime wouldn't think that. Unlike you guys, I have followed the Wizarding World for a significant amount of time, so I know that Snape is better.

You might be jealous of Snape's skill when it comes to inventing spells, or jealous of his status as the greatest potion maker in Wizarding World history, or whatever. Unless you're a Gryffindor fan who knows Wizarding World of the 90s, or a Ravenclaw fan who knows Wizarding World of the 2000s, you don't know what real, cold-blooded, killer instinct, will-to-win wizardry looks like. And there's nothing wrong with that.

This sub would make you think that Snape isn't even a top 100 wizard ever.

So don't go spouting bullshit about wizards you didn't watch. Talk about your "greats" like Albus Dumbledore The Best Wizard in the World™, but leave the Snape talk to the adults. Fair?
