[Auto-Post] Weekly Question Thread! Ask /r/Aquariums anything you want to know about the hobby!

Hi, around 3 weeks ago I purchased a male Halfmoon Betta (now named Warrior) for my daughter. I don't think it was the best store, but it's the only one near me and the fish kiddo picked was not looking good, has really bad fin rot I think, but she wanted to try and save him I guess, he was the saddest looking in more ways then one. I'm actually surprised I managed to keep him alive, got quite the character this fish and even his colour is starting to come back really nicely.. however..

I'm just struggling to be able to tell if his fins are starting to heal or not. There is a lot less infection now (yes, I'm aware it's still pretty bad. I'm trying my best). My phone has an awful camera but I have some pics to get the general gist of his current and previous state if it helps. Just want to know if I am on the right track, I mean, how does a betta look a lot better, and yet look a lot worse at the same time? his fins are so much more tattered then when we got him that I worry I messed up and made it worse somehow. I have no experience here.

Oct 18th -(purchase day.), oct 29 , and Warrior today, Nov 8th
