I think a lot of people here discredit the Nepali Congress. In 90% of the constituency (outside of Kathmandu), a disgruntled vote against the NCP is a direct vote for the Congress Party. But I guess the Hip crowd here in reddit doesn't know that. Also there is 10 times more chance of the next NC chairman being the Prime Minister of Nepal than Baburam, who is like 3rd/4th rung in his own party.

And what is this bullcrap of Baburam being anti-war. He submitted the 40 point demand to Sher Bahadur Deuba, and threatened to go to war if the demands were not met. Here is the 40 point demand. https://www.satp.org/satporgtp/countries/nepal/document/papers/40points.htm

And he was jailed by Prachanda in 2005, a full decade after the war had started. As far as I know, it was because the Maoists were losing and they(Prachanda faction) wanted to negotiate with the King. They would even drop the whole anti-monarchy thing. Baburam said no we should negotiate with the political parties, so he was jailed. Later the Maoists realized that the wind was blowing towards the political parties, they released Baburam and then began talks with the parties. For which I guess you could say Baburam was in the right in this one. But he is still a war criminal who along with several others should face trial.
