Identity is very complicated and divisions are many. I find that Native people who have to be Native every single day as in that they are obviously identifiable as Native to others, are faced with all the prejudice, discrimination and racism that comes with it. Unlike what white privilege provides to tribal members who are afforded the ability to enjoy that privilege one day and be ndn when it suits them or benefits them. A lot of Natives draw a great distinction between between being a Native and being the descendant of a Native. Just the way things are in the Native American I live in. I'm sure it's different in other places. Some places the tribes are black, white or both, but not Native. That federal recognition racket is ridiculous and so political. It takes away from the people who are owed a great debt from this country.
