BEFORE YOU POST: Want to know "What software" to use??? - Weekly advice thread software and other helpful guidance. Week of 06-19-17 (Other threads for software will be deleted. Feedback request? See the other stickied post!)

I've been using VideoPad for chopping up large recordings into smaller, concise pieces. (Namely, long gameplay videos into more of a highlights reel.) It also has some basic editing tools and not-useless audio editing. While it works for this, I'm not happy with the export quality (even at the highest settings, it has a noticeable quality decrease.) I'm not willing to drop money on it if that's the best it gets, you know?

I've tried Lightworks and while it's an impressive program it's hell to try to split up a large, single clip like that on it.

I've been thinking of going with Filmora because it's flashy and the export quality is great, but I'm unsure if DaVinci or Hit Film might serve my purposes better. DaVinci seems like it might be overkill, and, well... I'm not sure I'd like Hit Film for what I do.

Filmora seems to have very limited audio and visual controls, unless I'm missing something (you can't even select the numbers on the side of a zoom to select a precise size, they only have sliders?) So that's the biggest turnoff. But the free titles and music are very appealing. The multitrack splitscreen is also exciting for potential uses.

Also noting that I have a partner-in-crime who also has to download and use this program on his computer, so... smaller programs is not necessarily a must but would be nice.

Should I just suck it up and test run both programs myself, because they're free, or not bother and just go with Filmora because of how I'll use them? My system is pretty high-end cuz I'm a gamer n' all.

Serious thanks, I've been waffling over this choice for a while now.
