Berlusconi turns down €970m bid for 100% of A.C. Milan. Says Milan is worth €1.5B

Forbes can only say what Milan is worth on paper. Looking at their assets, revenue etc. There is so much more to a football club that contributes to value that Forbes cannot realistically calculate. A new incoming stadium, the historical value of the club, the large fan base and potential to expand, especially if a new owner is from Asia.

Do you think when google goes and pays a ridiculous amount of money for start-ups they're paying what they're worth on paper or what they have potential to be worth?

The way I see it, if Forbes says were worth almost 900b then what Berlusconi is asking for is probably close to what he should actually sell for, from a business perspective. The stadium alone is going to add 300m worth of assets.

It's all well and good that fans desperately want him to sell but no one in that position would EVER sell for 2/3 of what they actually think it is worth.

I still don't see the desperation to sell from so many fans. A new owner won't be able to start splashing money around because we'd be in violation of FFP. The initial search for a partial owner was to help fund the stadium (which falls outside of FFP), but it's already completely being funded by sponsors now. I don't think there's anything a new owner can do that Barbara hasn't already started to do well, maybe an Asian owner may help increase our commercial value in the region, but other than that what else would it achieve?

There's no quick solutions to our problem. It's going to need to be a gradual change. Our wage bill will be cut massively with out of contract players next season, which will open up money to buy new younger and better players. But we also need the new stadium and to increase our marketability to make more revenue. More revenue = more money to spend under FFP. It's the only way. Anyone not willing to accept that it's going to be a good 3-4 years before were back to being really competitive again should consider an option of supporting another team.
