Former school bullies of Reddit, why did you do it, why did you stop, and do you regret it?

I wouldn't say I was a bully, and I have stopped a few people from being bullied.

BUT sometimes in high school I would crack jokes (too often) at people, which would sometimes lead to them getting their feelings hurt. Apparently this one friend who I said was short (she was like 5 feet), got her feelings hurt because I said she was short.

I guess my problem was that I could take the jokes and dish them, while some people can only dish them. I did regret hurting her feelings and stopped the jokes.

On the other hand, there was a kid in one of my classes who grew up as the "weird kid." He was diabetic so was continuously going to the nurse, and didn't have strong social skills. He was in one of my classes, and would takes notes on a laptop b/c of a disability, and other students were getting mad and teasing him that he got to use a laptop and no one else did. They kept taunting and taunting him, that after about 10 min he just got up and said he was going to the nurse.

All the kids in the class started to get mad and complain to the teacher that it wasn't fair that he could just leave class like that. The teacher was doing very little to stop it, and some stupid girls wouldn't stop giving him a hard time (he was already gone at this point). So I finally had enough of it, and turned around and informed him that he was diabetic, didn't ask to be diabetic, and that he didn't want to be spending his time at the nurse, so to lay off.

They just stared back at me like they couldn't believe someone actually said something. The kid came up to me in lunch later that day, and said thanks (one of his friends in the class told him). I told him not to worry about those kids b/c they didn't even matter. The next day the principal came in and said if he heard anyone else making fun of the kid they would be expelled. That shut them up (at least in front of him....)
