Best area of the house for gun safe

Brother had a house fire that included all of mine when I was living in a not gun friendly state a decade ago.

Biggest thing I'll tell people is to not store your ammo in your gun safe. We did. A lot of it. It got hot enough to cook them off and wreck everything, from the looks of it it busted any seal and allowed heat in.

Pretty much everything besides a heavy barrel .17 hmr had all the temper cooked out of it, water finished them off.

We were able to retrieve anything that was left (nothing) the next day, your firearms wouldn't be there too long. Ours was in a top floor bedroom, it ended up in the basement.

Biggest thing is to have insurance on those firearms with detailed notes in picture form including receipts.
