The whole wine tasting thing is basically bullshit. Not sure why anyone ever believed that anyone could ever be an expert on how something tastes lmao. But ya they’ve done various experiments on this. My favourite is one where they got all these “expert” sommeliers, died white wine red, and got them to taste it, they’d start waxing poetic about all the red wine traits they were tasting. Then they’d put cheap wine in expensive bottles and they’d go on about how good it was. Put the same cheap wine in a cheap bottle and they’d have a completely different opinion. Not to mention wine and beer “pairings” with food are also absolute bullshit. Moral of the story, The best wine is the one YOU like, the best pairing is the drink YOU like.
