Around the neck and rear the rake may be helpful but it's hard to tell without being able to feel the coat in person. No reason not to try it out!

A rubber curry is very gentle and may be helpful for you with this pup. Regular bath & blowout appointments should help as well.

Also sigh, this will be a controversial thing to say but the furminator is a branded carding knife with a dumb handle and if you've been having success with the carding knife on her body and you're using it sparingly and not in more naked areas - you can keep using it. You might want to get a carding knife with a more classic handle so you can have more control over the angle at which you're carding.
