[A recipe for Biscochos]

Santa Fe Foodies

BISCOCHOS

Ingredients Directions

6 cups flour

2 eggs

1/2 tbsp cinnamon

1 tbsp anise extract

1 tbsp anise seeds (Optional)

I tsp baking powder

1/3 cup of milk

1 1/4 cups of sugar

2 c lard or shortening

1 tbsp Mexican Vanilla

Coating:

1 cup sugar

I tsp cinnamon|In a bowl mix lard, eggs, sugar, anise seeds and anise extract together.

Mix flour, cinnamon and baking powder together.

Combine both ingredients together and add milk Mix well to create a dough. Dough should be like a cookie dough.

Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown on the bottom.

When done cover with cinnamon and sugar mixture

Note: Roll them out thick for a softer texture or thin for a crispy texture
