Boyfriend let his cast iron sit with water and the rust sat for a year. Ton of salt, oil, 500°F for two hours and here we are!

I’m not sure if the griddle has a different treatment process than a pan, but I’m assuming so since it’s just a different shape lol.

Ensure it’s clean, scrub it down with hot water to kill bacteria, you don’t need soap.

Heat your oven as hot as it will go, and apply a high smoke point oil to your griddle. I pour a little bit on there and rub it on with a paper towel until it’s evenly coated. I saw someone say they wipe theirs off with a microfiber towel to get any excess off.

Once your oven is hot, place it in for about an hour or so, I put mine in for two bc of the rust situation. Then let it rest and cool down in the oven, best would let it sit overnight if you can.

This is just how I was taught, with the exception of watching a couple of videos because “I gotta learn how to do this without my mom” mentality. But I definitely recommend looking up tutorials and what not just to make sure :)
