You can feel the energy here. Heavy police presence dividing the two groups.

I actually got a front row view of the exact same situation while in Toronto for a weekend in 2012 (I think?). Went to visit their beautiful museum for the day. I think it was around the time they had done an autopsy on Yasser Arafat and found he had radiation in his body. So there were allegations that he'd been assassinated by Israel.

When I went in first thing in the morning there were a handful of people with Palestinian flags in the area. I didn't think much of it.

I walked out of the museum hours later and my first sign something was happening was a Toronto cop on horseback towering over me. He said "you should leave the area, this might turn into a riot" and I barely had time to say "what?" before I heard hundreds of people shouting and looked past him.

Israeli people on my side of the street, Palestinians on the other side, same type of setup. There were thousands of people there. At the moment he said that, a Palestinian with a bullhorn began to chant "Allah ackbar" and his side of the street all began pounding on the dividers and stomping their feet. The tension was incredible - I legitimately thought the two sides were going to charge each other at that moment.

I gtfo there as soon as I could, later watched the news in my hotel room and other than the shouting there was no violence. I admired the fact that two sides who obviously hated each other could have a protest that large and not come to blows. Everyone stayed on their side and just chanted and waved flags. Pretty cool imo.
