African American communities tend to have very, very poor police response times while being the most poor and the victims of the most crimes.

Stopping African American people from owning firearms to defend themselves endangers them in a way it wouldn't engager someone who's from a more wealthy area. Plus if you're poor having your belongings stolen could be much more devastating.

It's also proven that black people get more time for the same crimes when compared to every other race in the US, so punishing people for illegal ownership of firearms would target black people more than any other. Letting the people who would need firearms for self defense more than anyone else get them more easily would be beneficial to people like this.
