Chester commits suicide

I think overall listening and understanding people and not stigmatizing mental health problems. It's gotta be a big cultural shift.

Having been on both sides of the mental health issue (like having problems and trying to help those who have) it's not easy. It's not easy opening up and it's not easy helping people. I know I need help but people in my life have actively discouraged me from it, offering alternative "solutions" and stigmatizing professional help or saying things like "you just think too much" "just try to think positive". Now the latter stuff I can't fault people for, like what else can they really say? They're not professionals. But stigmatizing getting professional help? That makes me angry. I think much of it stems from a mistrust of psychiatric medicine, but it's not like the moment you step in their office they'll cram pills down your throat you know? Just having some to talk to, who knows what to do and say helps.

It's funny I say all that though, because I myself should be taking that advice about getting help...
