If true, this is another sad day for esports, gaming, and most importantly, children.

Traditional sports have made a similar move, favoring fast money/attention and ignoring the consequences of making it so accessible. Many of the youth students I coach and mentor are already betting on sports games via “bookies” with access to apps. It has absolutely revived viewership and sponsorship for that industry, and I’m sure it’ll benefit the esports industry in the same way.

All I can say is that i hope we as a society can spend a quarter of that revenue educating all humans on the effects of gambling and safe practices instead of tacking it into the very last seconds of a commercial or left to the small italics of an ad as a call to action to “gamble responsibly.”
