Hazed on skuba buyout situation

I don’t see why it’s scummy, he wouldn’t have signed for them if other teams were offering him a salary to play.

you're failing to understand that both things can be true. it was his best offer, and it was a scummy one.

It was a chance that both parties had taken to take a chance on an upcoming player and pay him that other orgs must not have been interested in and him deciding to sign rather than waiting while not getting paid.

except for skuba, it's like a 1/100000 chance. for the org: who cares, they'll just move onto the next talent. there's dozens of quality unsigned kids desperate to be a pro, and will take any garbage offer that an org gives them, bc the offers are so few.

you need to understand that just because the "free market" causes something to happen, doesn't mean that it's morally right. atm you seem like the type of guy that wouldve supported ppl selling bottled water for hundreds of dollars during the pandemic.

It’s a tough choice but it’s not the orgs fault for wanting return on investment of finding good young players.

you are completely and repeatedly ignoring all nuance. no one is saying that orgs can't get return on investment. what we're saying is that it's scummy when orgs are asking for a return that is completely unreasonable + nobody would actually pay, and results in a player getting stuck in contract jail and missing out on crazy opportunities.

it’s weird that the only way to make money in this esports bubble is being shunned so much when the orgs try and get a bit of return on investment for once

because it's not the only way to make money. and if the only way to make money in esports is by being scummy and taking advantage of teenagers, then esports should rightly be shunned
