Why are valorant fans so obsessed with crowds?

If people say crowds shouldn’t be biased at all, then that’s ridiculous. But I think it’s less about crowds being biased and more about people literally just not showing up if their region isn’t playing. The CS major in Rio was a glaring example of that. There were very few people that would show up if a Brazilian team wasn’t playing, but it was one of the best crowds ever when there was. I would compare it to people not watching a championship game in a sport just because their favorite team isn’t playing. Tons of people tune into sports games regardless of whether their particular home team is playing or not, they just may not care as much. I think people tend to expect that people attending esports events would have some “love for the game” and not simply just showing up because there are teams from their country playing, but not even attend if there isn’t.
