Coke's slogan is "Share Happiness". So I made an ad to remind them of the kind of happiness they're sharing in Qatar.

No, people have tried for centuries to "fix" the Middle East. I say "fix," because a number of those attempts for far from being above board. Regardless of their intentions, no one has succeeded, and mainly because those countries in many ways don't want the changes we want to force on them. They don't see the changes as "good," regardless of the rest of the world's opinion.

That isn't to say that the military regimes, dictatorships, and propaganda aren't a hindrance to the advancement of their society. They are, and that is a serious problem. But, the morals and ethics of a society do not change overnight. Such change is slow, and requires a society, in its entirety, to buy-in. A 51% majority is not enough here. And, in many of the countries we're talking about here, that's what we're seeing. Yes, the tide is turning, and more and more people are coming into the mindset of the rest of the world, but it still isn't enough to cause the cultural renaissance that the rest of the world is trying to force on them.

In many ways, we simply have a hard time picking the battles that we should be fighting. Human trafficking and other offenses that result in the murder, mutilation, or equally horrific mistreatment of other human beings is one of the few areas that so much of the world is on board with, we can chase it out, if there is enough socio-political momentum behind the desire. But, we split ourselves. Rather than targeting monsters like the FIFA organisation, which abuse the structure of Middle Eastern society, with single-minded focus, we splinter, talking about what government structure is better than another, or how "oppressive" it is that women wear burka's, or even bickering over religion.

Now, the reason I say all that is because the idea that people can be treated as property and that you can be killed for certain minor offenses, well, guess what, we only JUST got past that shit ourselves in the US. And more to the point, whenever anyone tried to tell us how to handle that shit, we told them to f-off too.
