Cowboy Bebop (2021) - Season 1 Discussion

Posting my thoughts here to get them out cause honestly no one cares about my opinions but it feels good to clear space in my head.

Things I liked: -Scenery -Music -Ein (less projector eyes) -Jet's actor -Faye's tape: the girl they got did a good job.

Things that were off but acceptable -Jet having a family, though it did work well for his character -Faye trying too hard to be one of the guys. She wasn't as angry and snarky as I had expected. Really lacked the selfishness and vanity of the character. The sex scene felt unnecessary however I guess if you had no memory of who you were you'd be willing to try new things. -Annie changed to Anna -Le Fou being afraid of dogs instead of cats bugged me at first but the tie in to Eins history worked well. -Dogs being expensive and rare. -Spike's height and lack of goofy charm took some getting used to. -Punch and Judy on BigShot was so lackluster, it's like they gave up before they even started.

Things that did not sit well - Vicious being a little b*tch and the lack of Mystery behind Julia's character. Was weird her being in the thick of it even though she was supposed to have disappeared around the same time Spike did.

-Gren. Gren's story was sad, he was betrayed by Vicious, a military experiment. The hormonal drug experimentation and the reveal of his characters backstory was such an impactful episode. They could have introduced a new character to be a lgbt+ out and proud bartender. I feel like they used him to check some audience box and cheapened the character.

-Ed's wig.
